Directorate of Education : The Directorate of Education provides financial support in the form of Grant-in-Aid to universities for strengthening the infrastructural facilities; enhancing teaching and research facilities to provide forestry education in the country.

The Directorate also approves the committees for the selection of JR/SRF/RA's for implementation of projects in ICFRE institutes. The Directorate also conducts training for Scientific Cadre, Managerial Cadre & Technical Cadre as on 6.02.08 of ICFRE and its institutes.

The Directorate has Policy Research Division to review and analyze the existing forest policies, statutes and their framework.

Directorate of Education aims at promotion of forestry education at under- graduation and post-graduation levels in the States Agricultural Universities by providing necessary infrastructural support to them. To ensure delivery of quality forestry education in these universities, a system of accreditation on the pattern of AICTE, has also been put in place by this Council.
 

Further with a view to promote employability of the students pursuing forestry courses as also to orient them towards higher academic achievements and research-related activities, upgradation of forestry syllabus is also undertaken by this Directorate from time to time, in keeping with the latest trends in the forestry sector. The Directorate also undertakes policy research activities so as to focus on the issues related to policy reforms, governmental schemes and regulations for effective governance and enhanced performance of the sector. The critical output from these studies would form an essential input for effecting policy reforms and reorienting govt. policies & programmes pertaining to the sector.
