Indian Council of Forestry
Research and Education (ICFRE)
was constituted by Ministry of
Environment and Forests, Government of India, in December
1986 to formulate, organize, direct and manage
forestry research; transfer developed
technologies to States and other agencies; and
impart forestry education.

Directorate of
Administration :
Besides managing general administration in
ICFRE headquarters,
the Directorate of Administration caters to
the Information Technology needs of ICFRE HQ and
FRI. The Directorates manages the operations of
Pension Cell, Procurement Cell, Budget Section
and Drawings and Disbursement Office.

Research : The Research Planning Division of
Directorate of Research deals with the planning,
processing and execution of new research project
proposals and review of the ongoing research
projects of all institutes of ICFRE. More...

The Project
Formulation Division acts as nodal agency
liaising
between the ICFRE institutes and potential donor
agencies for formulation of research projects in
the identified thrust areas.

Extension :
The Media and
Publication Division develops and manages the extension

Institutes of ICFRE for dissemination of
research findings in forestry sector.

Education :
The Directorate of Education
provides financial support in the form of
Grant-in-Aid to universities for strengthening
the infrastructural facilities; enhancing
teaching and research facilities to improve
forestry education in the country.

BCC Division
: ICFRE has established a Biodiversity and
Climate Change (BCC) Division. One of the mandates of the Division is
to address national climate change, and biodiversity issues
relating to forestry, and
consolidate biodiversity information for unique
ecosystems within the country.
